    Improving relations through Friendship Games

    More than one hundred service members from the U.S., United Arab Emirates, and several coalition nations participated in the Friendship Games Feb. 6, at Al Dhafra Air Base.

Michael Gruber, the 35th Communications Squadron director of operations, set out to pay respect to America’s prisoners of war and missing in action, as well as stand in solidarity with his father who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, by running 85 miles for 24 hours straight, Sept. 18, 2015, at Misawa Air Base, Japan.     24-hour journey for heroes, father

    He reached his 5th hour of running alone in the still of a dark, cold night lit only by streetlights surrounding the track -- 25 miles down, 75 more to go.
  • Col. Marcus Cranston in Sarajevo, Bosna and Herzegovina during a 44-country whirlwind event to benefit Parkinson's disease awareness. Cranston is the 99th Medical Group director of medical education endocrinology and preventive medicine at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, and was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2010 at the age of 44.

    Running the globe for Parkinson's

    It is estimated more than 5 million people live with Parkinson's disease worldwide and many do not have access to the medicine that makes the symptoms of the disorder manageable. Col. Marcus Cranston, 99th Medical Group director of medical education endocrinology and preventive medicine was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2010 at the age of 44. Since being diagnosed with the disease, Cranston has been planning to "Run-the-World 4 Parkinson's disease." His goal during the run is to help tell the story of those affected by Parkinson's disease worldwide through social media.

The event was held to ensure those warriors who have made the ultimate sacrifice are never forgotten.     TACP run in remembrance

    More than 670 service members and coalition partners completed a total of 2,599 miles during a 24-hour Tactical Air Control Party remembrance run at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, March 27 and 28, to ensure those warriors who have made the ultimate sacrifice are never forgotten.
