TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- James “Don” Alsup is the engineering supervisor of hydraulic accessories in the 423rd Supply Chain Management Squadron.
The Choctaw, Oklahoma, native has 19 years of federal service. In his spare time, Alsup enjoys farming and livestock shows. He is a commentator for Livestock Radio and donates his time to supporting the Future Farmers of America. I also loves spending time with his family and watching the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In his position within the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing, Alsup ensures his staff of 12 provides technical assistance to enable depot production across three geographical locations to support over 17 aircraft platforms. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alsup guided his team to ensure continuity of operations with 14 commodity maintenance organizations. Additionally, he continues to report to duty to assist customers and employees with any on-site support for hydraulic aircraft accessories.
Alsup was able to find resolution and workarounds to support B-1 and KC-135 aircraft production. When vendor deliveries were impacted by COVID-19, Alsup found solutions and obtained waivers to overcome supply chain delays. He also held virtual review boards and meetings to foster improved reliability for the C-17 fire suppression and F-15 actuation systems.
Alsup’s support during COVID-19 not only supported his customers, but also facilitated the in-processing of new engineers to continue the AFSC mission. He sponsored and trained new engineers, who were unfamiliar with processes, by providing the needed resources to be successful especially during this pandemic.
