Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Frebert

Lt Col Matthew W. Frebert is the Commander of the 412th Communications Squadron, Edwards Air Force Base, CA. He leads an integrated team of over 300 military, civilian and contractor professionals who operate and maintain a $72M C4 systems infrastructure for the 412th Test Wing, USAF Test Pilot School, AF Research Laboratory, NASA’s Neil Armstrong Flight Research Center, and other associate units on the USAF’s second largest base. Previously, Lt Col Frebert was the Commander of the Pacific Air Forces Cyberspace Systems Squadron at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. He is responsible for providing resilient cyber capabilities to enable situational awareness and mission assurance for Pacific Air Forces warfighters. The scope of his responsibilities encompasses operations and maintenance for collaborative software platforms and long-haul communications across the Indo-Pacific Command’s Area of Responsibility. Also, providing Pacific Air Forces Headquarters’ client systems support, and Mission Assurance services.

Lt Col Frebert was commissioned in 2008 in the University of Connecticut’s ROTC program. He has held positions within the Flight, Squadron, Group, Wing, and MAJCOM levels. Prior to his student and executive officer positions, he served as the 375th Communications Squadron, Director of Operations, providing command, control, communications, computer, and information services to U.S. Transportation Command, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, the U.S. Army’s Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, Headquarters 18th Air Force, the 618th Air Operations Center (TACC), Air Force Network Integration Center, four Total Force flying wings, 30 tenant units and 100 DoD locations at Scott Air Force base, Illinois.
