Air Force Funded Programs

What is the PCIP Program? An Air-Force funded 10–12-week paid summer internship with the potential to lead to a graduate degree internship! Provides 10–12-week paid summer internships during a student’s sophomore and junior years, along with eligibility for a follow-on Palace Acquire graduate internship after graduation.

Eligibility:

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Sophomore or Junior with 60 or more credits
  • BS, MS, or BS/MS in STEM, program management, financial management, auditing, intelligence, logistics, IT, operations, and force support
  • GPA 2.95 or above
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance (funded by USAF)

 

Palace Acquire (PAQ) / Copper Cap (COP): https://afciviliancareers.com/recentgraduates/

What is the Palace Acquire Program (PAQ)? An Air Force funded formal 2-3 year training and career development track for recent graduates. Bachelor of Science graduates undergo a three-year development and training program, which includes one year of graduate studies relating to selected STEM disciplines. Full-time, paid graduate studies are undertaken with full salary and federal employee benefits. Master of Science graduates undergo an accelerated, two-year developmental program, including full salary and federal employee benefits.

Eligibility:

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Recent graduate or student graduating during the current semester from an accredited college or university
  • BS, MS, or BS/MS in STEM, program management, financial management, OSI, intelligence, logistics, IT, operations, force 
  • support and even flight instruction!
  • GPA 2.95 or above
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance (funded by USAF)

Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART): https://www.smartscholarship.org/smart

What is the SMART Scholarship? The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program is a combined educational and workforce development opportunity for STEM students. SMART offers scholarships for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students pursuing a STEM degree. Scholarship recipients receive full tuition, annual stipends, internships, and guaranteed employment with the Department of Defense after graduation. Applications are open annually from August 1-December 1.

Eligibility:

  • A citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or United Kingdom at time of application
  • 18 years of age or older as of August 1, 2024
  • Requesting at least 1 year of degree funding prior to graduation (which starts at the program start date)
  • Able to complete at least one summer internship (multi-year scholars only)
  • Willing to accept post-graduation employment with the DoD, during the internship students have contractor status
  • A student in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale,
  • Pursuing a technical undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the 24 STEM disciplines listed on the SMART website
  • Able to produce a fall college transcript from a regionally accredited US college or university, OR be pursuing a graduate     
  • degree at a regionally accredited US college or university
