Members of the Joint Strike Fighter Integrated Test Force here prepare an F-16 for a final chemical decontamination test here Jan. 30, 2006. The F-16, used in place of an F-35, was sprayed with a chemical simulant, washed, then towed into a hangar and heated from 165- to 185-degree temperatures to accelerate the weathering of the remaining chemical. C-17 performs final drop in Falcon SLV test phase

A 65-foot, 72,000-pound booster rocket mock-up exits the cargo bay of a C-17 Globemaster III July 26, 2006. The airdrop was the final test in phase 2B of the Falcon small launch vehicle program, a joint effort between Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Air Force to develop a more flexible and low-cost method of putting a 1,000-pound satellite into low earth orbit. Team tests pod at 'LITENING' speed

A LITENING pod, like the dark grey cylinder attached to the bottom of this F-16's fuselage, is an operational precision targeting pod system used with a wide variety of combat air forces aircraft. Edwards began accelerated testing of a LITENING-AT targeting pod here March 17, 2006. The LITENING-AT test will update the existing LITENING pod with several new capabilities, including a video downlink transmitter currently used in the Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.
