Edwards personnel honored during baseball game

A pair of Edwards Air Force Base team members were honored for their service to the Air Force and the local community during a Lancaster JetHawks game at the Hanger baseball stadium at Lancaster, California, Aug. 24.

The 412th Medical Group’s Tech. Sgt. Janna Ybarra and the 812th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Lead Firefighter James Levell, received the Bank of America/Merrill Military Service Before Self Award at the end of the third inning by third base. The pair were also recognized by local civic leaders during a separate awards presentation ceremony.

Ybarra was recognized for her work in spearheading Operation Strong Hearts, a non-profit organization that provides care boxes for members of the community. The boxes include books designed to strengthen and boost morale of those who may be struggling through hard times. Levell was recognized for his work as a firefighter on Edwards and his dedication to keeping the community safe.
