Retired B-1B arrives in Wichita to create a digital twin
A B-1B Lancer stops in its final destination inside a hangar at Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research in Wichita, Kansas, after making a four-day road trip from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, Jan. 27, 2024. The bomber will be used to create a digital twin, which will allow for greater study and potential improvements of the B-1 fleet. The B-1 is one of several airframes being examined and virtually mapped to create digital twins, as part of a partnership with NIAR and the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.
