AEDC once supported Air Force Olympic hopefuls in quest for winter games glory
Documents from the early 1960s show Arnold Engineering Development Complex, then Center, provided engineering analysis and materials testing to support the U.S. Air Force bobsled team as they vied for a spot in the 1964 Winter Olympics. AEDC was asked to fabricate runners, the skate-like blades on which bobsleds slide, for the Air Force’s two-man and four-man bobsleds, prompting the AEDC examination of the equipment.
