Beale Lake project

An outdated fish ladder, constructed in the 1980s, was insufficient for threatened fish to travel upstream and spawn at Beale Air Force Base, California. The Air Force, in collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other partners, removed Beale Lake Dam and the associated fish ladder in late 2020, making it easier for fish to travel upstream and spawn.
