World War II POW survivor shares tale of hope, determination, resilience
Lloyd Ponder, World War II veteran, shares memorabilia he collected during his time in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, during a visit to his home in Natchitoches, La., Nov. 29, 2017. While in captivity, Ponder took a small piece of a mirror, welded a frame for it, and snuck the forbidden item into the POW camp.
