World War II POW survivor shares tale of hope, determination, resilience

Lloyd Ponder, World War II veteran, shares memorabilia he collected during his time in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, during a visit to his home in Natchitoches, La., Nov. 29, 2017. While in captivity, Ponder took a small piece of a mirror, welded a frame for it, and snuck the forbidden item into the POW camp. Ponder uses the mirror to help share his story of hardship during WWII. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Erin Trower)
