Edwards flight test community prepares for federal spectrum auction
As flight vehicles increase in complexity, so does their data requirements. This graphic of a typical aircraft displays the integrated sensors and avionics system with major components showing how each component has its own data requirements. This data is transmitted to a control room where it is received, processed and monitored. The Federal Communications Commission conducted an Advanced Wireless Systems auction Nov. 13, which will result in over a 10 percent cut in spectrum available for manned aircraft telemetry throughout the U.S. (U.S. Air Force courtesy graphic)
