A dummy representing a downed pilot lies on the ground in the Mojave Desert, 14 miles east of California City Aug. 27. Smoke and plane parts were also present to represent the crash site of an F-16 for exercise Desert Wind 14-06, an emergency response and readiness exercise designed to practice how Edwards AFB responds to a crash off base.
