Happy Birthday, Marines
Marines with the Marine Aircraft Group 46 Detachment Bravo here celebrated the service's 233 birthday with a cake-cutting ceremony at Club Murco Nov. 7. Originally founded on Nov. 10, 1775, the Marine Corps was composed mainly of infantrymen serving aboard Navy ships. They were primarily responsible for the security of the ship, offensive and defensive boarding parties. They also helped protect the ship's officers from mutiny. Today, the Marines Corps is an amphibious expeditionary force that also support missions from the White House and the State Department. (Air Force photo by Kevin North)
