First flight marks temporary runway operational use

Edwards Airmen walk the new 12,000-foot long temporary main runway here during a foreign-object-debris walk on May 16. The temporary runway will be used while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducts a $103 million project to replace the majority of the 50-plus-year old primary runway 04/22.
