Teenager becomes pilot for a day

Maj. Jack Fischer (right), 411th Flight Test Squadron F-22 Raptor pilot, explains the different controls in an F-16 Fighting Falcon cockpit to Avi Khanian (left) during the "Pilot for a Day" tour here July 12. As a pilot for the day, 14-year-old Avi received an opportunity to see Edwards' various aircraft including the CV-22, F-22A, F-16 and the Global Hawk. The program was sponsored by the base's Company Grade Officer Council. Avi has undergone treatment at Mattel Children's Hospital in Los Angeles for Ewing's sarcoma, a form of bone cancer often found in children. (Photo by Jim Shryne)
