Lancaster Memorial Day WASP
Women Airforce Service Pilots Jan Wood, Irma "Babe" Story and Flora Belle Reece pose in front of a monument dedicated to them and other WASPs on Memorial Day with Col. Dawn M. Dunlop, 412th Test Wing Commander. Thirty-eight WASPs gave their lives during World War II but did not receive military honors as they were considered civilians. On July 1, 2009, President Obama awarded the WASPs the Congressional Gold Medal for their service during WWII.
