Aircrew members undergo some SERE-ous training
Ted Brooks attempts to transfer a fire he built after learning in a fire craft training exercise held at the Initial Survival Training course May 15. Brooks was one of seven aircrew members that participated in the three-and-a-half-day IST course that teaches non-combat level survival skills that aircrew will need in case they have to bailout or ditch in an unknown environment. Brooks is an avionics technician on NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy next generation airborne observatory. (U.S. Air Force photo by Jet Fabara)
