Aircrew members undergo some SERE-ous training
Ted Brooks (left), avionics technician on NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy next generation airborne observatory and Michael Holtz, NASA Dryden Flight Research Center flight test engineer, attempt to build a shelter out of parachute material during an initial Survival Training course. The three-and-a-half-day course was held May 15 to 17 inside the Sequoia National Forest and is intended to train both military and civilian aircrew members the basic principles of survival in case they ever bailout or ditch in an unknown environment.
