Edwards' last F-16D Block 25 retires
An F-16D, serial #85-0515, taxis from the parking area at Edwards for its final mission. This aircraft is the last standard Block 25 F-16 to be retired from use with the 412th Test Wing and was flown to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, AZ, for retirement today. The pilot for the final flight was Maj. Andy Martin with Mr. Tim Kjonegaard, Flight Test Engineer, in the back seat. Both are assigned to the 445th Flight Test Squadron, Test Operations. Edwards AFB has operated Block 25 aircraft longer than any other Air Force base. Block 30, 40 and 50 F-16s have replaced the nearly 30-year-old Block 25 Fighting Falcons. The retired fighters are generally modified and sold to foreign militaries or are dismantled for parts. (Air Force photo by Greg L. Davis)
