Edwards AFB partners with DU, D14 to improve Piute Ponds Published July 16, 2013 By 412th Test Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Edwards AFB held a dedication ceremony at Piute Ponds July 12 to commemorate the partnership that helped develop parts of the area for recreation during a 2012 improvement project. Edwards Environmental Management along with Ducks Unlimited and District 14 in Lancaster, Calif., joined forces to construct new water control structures, culverts and dikes that will allow flooding to ponds that have not been used in years. Ducks Unlimited is a world leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation who take on projects to help preserve those habitats and wildlife. Dozens of people showed up for the morning ceremony and enjoyed doughnuts and coffee and enjoyed the day at the ponds. The dedication ceremony wrapped up with the presentation of a metal placard that will be bolted to a large rock that was brought in during the project.
