Edwards Exchange celebrates new Express Published Aug. 6, 2013 By Brittany Power Army & Air Force Exchange Service Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- After a long anticipated wait, the Exchange opened their new Express on July 31, 2013. The week long grand opening festivities, including special promotions and giveaways, began with a ribbon cutting ceremony Aug. 5, 2013. The new facility has approximately 2,700 square feet of sales area, and features the Shoppette convenience store, Class VI liquor store, and Snack Avenue food services. The addition of ten more gas pumps, compared to the old station, will help facilitate a quicker stop for customers, and will keep in compliance with California environmental law. The Exchange Express also signed on with Firestone, bringing a private car care business to the base. They will also be offering special promotions through Aug. 11. Firestone Complete Auto Care offers three service bays and services such as: maintenance, starting and charging, tire services, brake services, engine services, and more. This project started three years ago as the need to upgrade our existing facilities was recognized, and held the groundbreaking ceremony Sep. 4, 2012. The Exchange General Manager, Mike Wiles, said, "This was an exciting endeavor, and we're so happy to finally see it open."
