2nd Annual Branch Pond Family Fishing Derby Aug. 31

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --  Mark your calendars for the 2013 Family Fishing Derby at Branch Memorial Pond. The event will be held on Aug. 31 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Team Edwards's family members ages 2 and up are welcome to participate. All participants 16 years and older must have a valid base fishing license from Outdoor Recreation. California state fishing licenses are not required. Participants under the age of 16 must be with a sponsor who has a valid base fishing license. Base fishing licenses can be purchased at Outdoor Recreation for $15 and fishing equipment rentals are also available.

There will be four age categories and prizes will be awarded to the three largest catches in each. This is a catch and release derby, each angler is limited to one fishing pole, boats/float tubes/waders will not be permitted, and everyone should bring their own bait.

Pre-registration is not required to participate in the fishing derby but is greatly appreciated to allow proper planning by event volunteers. Volunteers will be in the Exchange lobby August 20 from 10 a.m. to noon with registration forms. Pre-registration will also be accepted by Stephanie Vaughn via email: d.vaughn2@yahoo.com. Email registration should include: Names and ages of participants, sponsor's status and organization (i.e., Active Duty, 412th FSS), and phone number.
