New rank band structure for Edwards on-base neighborhoods

A new rank band structure is in operation for the Edwards AFB on-base housing community, which aligns the base with the U.S. Air Force directed Housing Requirements and Marketing Analysis.

U.S. Air Force officials oversaw the Edwards HRMA in 2009 and determined the appropriate number of homes for each rank band to best support the Edwards community. The analysis is based on an examination of the private sector market's ability to meet the housing needs of Edwards service members and their families.

"A great deal of consideration was given to determining the new rank band structure. We now have a housing community at Edwards that accurately reflects the need for on-base housing and that ensures our Airmen and their families are taken care of," said Brig. Gen. Michael T. Brewer, 412th Test Wing commander.

The new rank band structure, approved earlier this year by Edwards leadership, will not require residents to relocate. The new policies will be applied as residents move in and out of the Edwards community. Corvias Military Living, the Edwards housing partner, has already begun executing the updated rank band structure.

"Our team is here to support the Edwards housing community." said J.C. Calder, Corvias program manager. "The updated rank band structure positions us to better serve our military families and at Corvias, that is our top priority."

Edwards residents can expect the following changes:
  • Juniper Ridge will transition from senior non-commissioned officer housing to junior non-commissioned officer housing
  • Tamarisk Plains will transition from company grade officer housing and will now also include SNCO and a section of homes designated to accommodate the flexible needs of the housing community
  • Acacia Hills will transition from field grade officer and SNCO housing to FGO and CGO housing
  • Mountain View, Mesquite Meadows and Joshua Acres will remain JNCO housing
