The Desert Junior Senior High School varsity football team is playing Saddleback Valley Christian High School in a second round CIF playoff game Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. The DHS Scorpions (9-2/4-1) are the Desert Mountain League Co-Champions and SV (9-2/4-0) are the San Joaquin League Champions. This will be the last home game this year as semi-finals are on neutral fields.

Last week, the Scorpions defeated top ranked St. Anthony High School (Long Beach, Calif.) 51-27 in a Northeast Division first-round playoff game here at Desert High School. Saddleback Valley Christian defeated the Rough Riders of the Perris California Military Institute (Perris, Calif.) 68-7.

DHS football team is on a guided path by coaches Chris Hinton, Tod Fink, Joven Baker, Scott Bonham, Joe Masei, Jeff Steele, and Richard Springer to take this CIF playoff bracket.

According to DHS coaches and parents, this year's football team is committed with drive, determination and will to win. The seniors on the team are Matt Moore (QB), Dane Adams, Dominick Day, Matt Steele, Robert Maldonado, Jordan Bella, Marcello Alvarez, Bryce Benlian, Austin Dones, and Derek Hanes; but this is not the only talent they have, 12 other outstanding players whom were mentored by these seniors supplement the team.

So, if you have not seen a DHS game yet, now is the time. Come out and support your local high school here at Edwards AFB. Do not miss the great football action. Come out Friday night for a CIF second round showdown. Bring the family and friends.
