Edwards Exchange employee devotes lifetime to serving troops Published Feb. 18, 2014 By Jusika Martinez Army & Air Force Exchange Service Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- When Nam Maclean began working for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, William Jefferson Clinton was the president and a gallon of gas cost $1.23. Maclean, a dining room attendant for the Exchange, started her career in 1997 and has spent the last 17 years serving generations of Airmen. "Serving those who protect our freedom is extremely rewarding," said Maclean. "It hasn't felt like a job to me - it's more of an honor and a privilege to have been able do this for so long." Maclean began her Exchange career as a food service worker at the Edwards Train Station. Over the next 17 years, she also had stints as a food service worker and dining room attendant at the Exchange Food Court. While the jobs may have changed over the years, Maclean's dedication and devotion to the troops has never wavered. "Thinking back on the past 17 years reminds me of what an honor it has been to serve those that serve," said Maclean. "Energy prices may go up and politicians change, but waking up and going to work alongside the best customers in the world is just as exciting today as it was my first day on the job."
