Time to donate: AFAF season kicks off at Edwards Published March 25, 2014 By 412th Test Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Brig. Gen. Michael T. Brewer (left), 412th Test Wing commander, officially kicks off this year's Air Force Assistance Fund campaign by signing the AFAF memorandum for Edwards AFB. To his right is 1st Lt. Nathan Lovette, 412th Force Support Squadron, this year's AFAF primary program coordinator. This year marks the 41st anniversary of the AFAF. The theme, "Commitment to Caring," reiterates the Air Force's heritage of taking care of one another, whether active duty, retired, or surviving family members. The AFAF is a charitable fund by Airmen for Airmen. All monies raised during the campaign go to supporting the Air Force's four charities: The Air Force Aid Society takes care of Airmen and their families, with emergency assistance, educational loans, spouse tuition and base enhancement projects; the Air Force Village and Air Force Enlisted Village provide retirees' widows and widowers with a home and caring community among fellow Air Force family members; while the Lemay Foundation seeks out and provides the same group short to long term financial grants. Team Edwards members interested in donating to the AFAF should contact their unit AFAF representative and to be on the look out for posters posted in their squadron and unit areas. This year's campaign runs from March 24 to May 2. Edwards' goal this year is $57,408. The Air Force-wide goal is $6.54 million.
