Cox-Dean gives her first salute as 412th Medical Group commander to Brig. Gen. Michael T. Brewer, 412th Test Wing commander, June 25. Cox-Dean assumed command from Col. Keith Donaldson (right) who is headed to his next assignment in Washington D.C. Cox-Dean comes to Edwards from Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., where she served as the active duty Inspection Division chief of the Medical Operations Directorate for the Air Force Inspection Agency. Cox-Dean graduated from Florida Internation University and received a direct commission into the Air Force Nurse Corps as a second lieutenant in 1989. As 412th MDG commander, she leads 311 military and civilian medics in operating outpatient clinics and paramedic services supporting 7,500 beneficiaries and 12,500 personnel assigned to the Air Force Test Center, Air Force Research Laboratory Detachment 7, NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center and 51 tenant units. She serves as the primary medical advisor to the installation commander, directs a $27 million budget and formulates plans, establishes policies and coordinates healthcare activities for the Edwards community.
