Quarterly travel advisory Published July 1, 2014 By 412th Test Wing Antiterrorism Office EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- As the warmer months approach, many people generally plan vacations. Both overseas and within the United States travelers should be aware of the local threats that they may encounter while on their vacations. Criminal, terroristic, cyber and intelligence based threats are always important to be aware of. For military and DoD civilians many foreign countries have different requirements, it is mandatory to review and follow the Foreign Clearance Guide requirements for all travel outside of the United States for military and DOD civilians. The FCG (https://www.fcg.pentagon.mil/) provides specific chain of command approvals, registrations and briefings that must take place prior to travel. The State Department (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings.html) additionally provides excellent information that is more readily accessible for unclassified threat updates during and leading up to your trip. Prior to your travel, you should also meet with your unit-level antiterrorism officer and schedule a destination-specific travel briefing for the country or countries that you plan on visiting. Some destinations may require more work and lead-time than other destinations so before you purchase tickets it is a good idea to become familiar with the destinations and the requirements for that destination. From your Edwards AFB Antiterrorism Office, have a safe trip.
