Road closure in support of new bulk fuel storage construction Published Sept. 23, 2014 By 412th Test Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Beginning Oct. 6, barriers will be set across the intersection of S. Muroc Dr. and Wolfe Ave., and also across S. Muroc Drive and Sellar Ave. The closure is necessary to install a new 8-inch fuel line across South Muroc. Traffic needing to access Wolfe Ave. from S. Muroc Dr. will be directed to Seller Ave. and then to Popson Ave. Traffic needing to access Rosamond Blvd. via S. Muroc Dr. will be directed to Popson or Seller. Traffic heading west on Rosamond or Wolfe Ave. can also use Fitzgerald Dr. to avoid the detour entirely. The work zone will be at a minimum 250 feet from the intersection of Sellar and S. Muroc Dr. and will be protected with K-rails for worker safety. Detour and closure signs will be placed ahead of all intersections and prior to construction zones. Daily traffic can use Fitzgerald to access Rosamond Blvd. or Wolfe Ave. to avoid the detour. The road closure and construction is expected to last until Oct. 20, but could end sooner if the work is completed. This is the first of five road/intersection closures that will run every two weeks from October to the middle of December. See graphic to the right for the layout of this closure.
