Corvias Military Living to implement water conservation measures at Edwards Published Sept. 24, 2014 By Corvias Military Living EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Corvias Military Living, an affiliate of Corvias Group, will begin limiting the days that Edwards AFB family housing residents can water their yards. Beginning Monday, September 29, Corvias maintenance team members will begin resetting the sprinkler systems in the family housing areas to run every other day. Reprograming all of the systems to run on odd or even schedules will take a couple of days to complete. Corvias team members may need to access resident garages to reprogram the sprinkler system. Team members will make every effort to contact the resident before entering a garage. "This is one way Corvias and our residents can help out during this drought," said JC Calder, Edwards AFB Corvias program manager. "The grass not being quite as green as we're used to is a small price to pay considering the situation." Corvias is dedicated to creating renewable neighborhoods that conserve water and other vital resources. Edwards AFB is not alone in its efforts. Palmdale, Lancaster and other Antelope Valley communities have already implemented various water restrictions to include nighttime and every-other-day watering. In addition to the changes in irrigation, Corvias is also encouraging residents to conserve water in their homes. An eight-minute shower can use over 17 gallons of water and a running faucet can use up to a gallon and a half of water a minute. This water policy change is expected to remain in effect for the foreseeable future.
