Corvias Military Living has scholarships, grants for military dependents at Edwards

Military spouses and children at Edwards Air Force Base can apply for $50,000 scholarships or $5000 grants from Corvias Foundation.  High school seniors with plans to attend a four-year university or college can apply for the scholarship. The scholarships are in the amount of up to $50,000 per person. Corvias Foundation will select 10 children of active-duty service members stationed at Forts Meade, Bragg, Polk, Rucker, Riley, and Sill; Aberdeen Proving Ground, Edwards Air Force Base, Eglin Air Force Base, Eielson Air Force Base, Hurlburt Field, McConnell Air Force Base and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Recipients of the scholarships will be notified in April 2015.

One military spouse at Edwards Air Force Base is a recipient of a Corvias grant last year. Jannette Martinez is a freshman pursuing a Certificate in Medical Billing from the U.S. Career Institute. Martinez enjoys the medical field and looks forward to pursuing a career in medical billing. Her husband is Staff Sgt. Marcos Martinez of the 412th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron of the U.S. Air Force. 

Applications for 2015 Educational Grants must be submitted by May 7, 2015. Grants are given in the amount of up to $5,000 to spouses of active-duty service members stationed at the military installations listed above. Applicants may be in any stage of the educational process. Recipients of a grant will be notified in July 2015.

Applications and all necessary paperwork for both the Scholarship and Educational Grant must be submitted by the due date in order to be considered. Those chosen may begin using their scholarship or grant in the fall of 2015. Families do not have to reside in on-post/base housing in order to qualify for scholarships or grants. Eligible service members stationed at these 13 Army and Air Force installations can serve in any branch of the military.
