Created Treasures Gift Store in the Desert Mall is getting into the Christmas spirit with an open house. Customers who spend $5 or more Dec. 2-5 are given a free ornament with their purchase. Christmas candy was available to make the shopping just a little bit sweeter.

"We have all homemade gifts, anything from Christmas to Americana, to baby and children, to any kind of décor: wine, apples, coffee, things like that," said Mary Boy, Created Treasures manager.

The event comes after a holiday bazaar where they gave out 10% off coupons that could be redeemed during the open house.

Boy has already begun her own Christmas shopping at the store; a ceramic piece for her mother, and stocking stuffers for other relatives. Customers can find photography, hand-painted wood crafts, crochet items, ceramics, stained glass products, jewelry and more.

The hand-crafted items are made by a group of military spouses on base and the non-profit store is owned and operated by the Edwards Officers Spouses Club. Proceeds from the store are divided between the vendors, the upkeep of the shop and the EOSC to fund scholarships or other fundraisers.

Boy shared that she loves working at Created Treasures because of the camaraderie between the vendors.

The Created Treasures Gift Shop is located at 1000 Kincheloe Ave., Bldg. 7210. Hours during the holiday season are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Thursdays the hours are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
