The Rosburg Fitness Center recently hosted a two-day All-Star Basketball Showcase Feb. 17 and 18, which included players from multiple squadrons and units currently playing in the intramural basketball season.

During the first day, more than 10 players competed in a three-point shootout that resulted in a decisive shootout between Sidney Melvin from the 412th Force Support Squadron, and Jadrien Wiser, a dependent. At the end of the shooting bout, Melvin scored 9 points for the win. At the end of the shooting bout, Melvin scored 9 points for the win. After the shootout, a skills challenge was held, which was won by Senior Airman Quadri Carter, from the 412th Security Forces Squadron.

"We held the events to highlight the talents of the best of Edward's Intramural Basketball players. The 3 point shoot-out and skills challenge catered to certain athletes' abilities, while the all-star game included all of the team's top players," said Kristen Haidle, 412th FSS sports director. "The base has previously held all-star events, but the skills challenge was a new addition."

During the second day of all-star activities, players from all the squadrons were divided by team ranking and placed on either the East or West team.

The final score of the game was East 81- West 71. The leading scorer for the East team was Melvin with 25 points; who was also voted the MVP of the game. The leading scorer for the West team was Staff Sgt. Dawann Johnson, from the 412th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, with 21 points.
