Teal Helping Hands Published April 21, 2015 By 412th Test Wing Sexual Assualt Prevention Office EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Throughout the month of April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, people may see a display called "Teal Helping Hands." This traveling wall is a project spearheaded by Edwards AFB's first full-time Sexual Assault Prevention Office Victim Advocate, Carolyn Graves. Members of the Edwards community across the installation, including our Helping Agencies staff, took the time to paint their hands teal, the nationally recognized color of Sexual Assault Prevention. By placing them on the hanging drape, they show their solidarity to support survivors of sexual assault. Each person wrote a short message to inspire the survivors and others to speak up, stay strong, know that they are not alone, strive to overcome and know that we, a Wingman, or a SAPR staff member, are here to help. The wall has travelled to Club Muroc and the dining facility lobbies and will be at Bldg. 3000 and the Oasis Community Center before the month ends. If you need help with dealing with or reporting an assault, or maybe you know someone that may need help or just want to talk to someone, please feel free to call Kim Shirley at 661-277-7272 or Carolyn Graves at 661-277-4988.
