Team Edwards and its Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office continue to make improvements in its fight against sexual assault. As part of that effort, the base along with the SAPR office, has created a new web page to raise awareness and provide prevention training, education and victim advocacy.

That new Web page, located at www.edwards.af.mil/units/sapr/index.asp, officially went live June 4 and can be quickly accessed via the Edwards Air Force Base home page under the SAPR tab.

"We live in a very electronic world and many people now use electronic media as their first source of information. We want to stay relevant and be available to anyone that needs our assistance," said Kimberly Shirley, 412th Test Wing Sexual Assault Prevention Program manager. "Anyone that may need help to report a sexual assault or unwanted sexual contact can use the site even if it's just to get information to help someone else."

According to Shirley, the site will serve as an effective way of being able to distribute information to our community, provide comprehensive listings of available resources and general reporting information for victims.

"This site will provide the community with the special reporting conditions for the state of California, telephone numbers to reach resources like the Department of Defense Safe Helpline, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, information about the Special Victim Counsel; those are just some of the things people can find," added Shirley.

As of now, the SAPR Web page will contain the following elements:

- Information about the Victim Advocate Program
- Sexual Assault Prevention links
- Reporting sexual assault options
- Guidelines for reporting sexual assault
- SAPR main links
- Contact information for the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and SAPR Victim Advocate

"We encourage anyone to contact the Sexual Assault Prevention office at 661-277-7272 or 277-4988.  Information is also available at www.sapr.mil or www.rainn.org," Shirley said. "Anyone that may have a need to ask questions, discuss a situation, military or civilian, male and female, we want you to know we are here for you 24/7."
