The Edwards AFB Library Summer Reading Program encourages children to exercise their minds during the summer months when school is not in session. June 12, they encouraged them to be physically active too, with a bouncy house, potato sack races, hula hoops and jump ropes.

This year's program officially started June 5 and is open to children of all ages. At sign up each child receives a bookmark, pencil, book bag and t-shirt with the theme, "Read to the Rhythm."

For every 10 books read, the child will receive a prize. Each child is eligible to earn up to 10 prizes.

During the summer of 2014, participants read 21, 625 books collectively. This year, a new goal has been set at 25,000 total books read.
