TPS grad returns as new 412th OG commander Published July 14, 2015 By 412th Test Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Col. Scott Cain took command of the 412th Operations Group July 2 in a change of command ceremony held in Hangar 1600. A US Air Force Test Pilot School graduate, Cain returns to Edwards to oversee the group that conducts developmental test and evaluation of nearly every aircraft in the Air Force inventory, associated weapons, and several joint prototype aircraft. He also performs operational oversight of three geographically separated test units and numerous Air Force Research Laboratory programs. Coming from Washington, D. C., he replaces outgoing commander Col. Rodney Todaro who has served in the position for the past two years. Cain received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 1995 where he was a distinguished graduate, earning a bachelor's degree in Astronautical Engineering. He was later selected to fly the F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-1117 Nighthawk. He also has served in the 416th Flight Test Squadron as a developmental test pilot where he was responsible for F-16 software development, high angle-of-attack test and training, and propulsion flight test.
