Franklin Haynes Marionettes was featured as a part of the library's summer reading program July 31. A show featuring more than eight different puppets called "The Princess & the Pirates" took the audience at the base library into the tropical life of the pirate Jack Cannonball.

An adventure of juggling, flips, stilts and much more, Princess Rachel is captured by Jack Cannonball and taken to Skull Island. Her brother, John, attempts a rescue with his pirate friends to meet Cannonball's challenge.

Franklin Haynes Marionettes offers a variety of 13 different shows.

This year's summer reading program officially started June 5 and is open to children of all ages. At sign-up, each child receives a bookmark, pencil, book bag and t-shirt with the theme, "Read to the Rhythm."

For every 10 books read, the child will receive a prize. Each child is eligible to earn up to 10 prizes. The program concludes Aug 14. Special events are hosted every Friday at 10 a.m. at the library.
