UPDATE: Suspicious package found in building at Air Force Research Laboratory Published Aug. 11, 2015 By 412th Test Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- A suspicious package found today on base at the Air Force Research Laboratory was tested by a combined task force led by the FBI and determined to contain a non-hazardous substance. At about 9 a.m., a worker at Bldg. 8350 found a package with a plastic bag containing a white substance and a note saying law enforcement should be called. As a precautionary measure, base officials evacuated all the people from that building and several surrounding facilities. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and established a cordon around the area. As the Edwards emergency personnel responded to the scene, the base coordinated with all appropriate agencies, which led to the formation of the task force. The emergency response has now been terminated and all evacuated personnel have been allowed to return to their workplaces. An investigation is ongoing to discover the identity of the person who left the package.
