AFRL commander, Swede officials tour rocket lab Published Sept. 8, 2015 By 412th Test Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Rocket Propulsion Division here at Edwards hosted a visit from Maj. Gen. Thomas J. Masiello, Air Force Research Laboratory commander, and a delegation of Swedish officials Sept. 1. Masiello and the Swedes were given program updates and tours of the unique facilities here in the high desert. Sweden has various interests in AFRL and has diverse project agreements with multiple directorates of AFRL. According to Rocket Propulsion Division personnel, Sweden's interest in AFRL West is Green Energetic Materials for military applications, such as an environmentally-conscious rocket propellant. The Swedish delegation toured several facilities including the Energetic Materials Research and Characterization Laboratory and the Solid Propellant Mix Facility.
