Memorial service scheduled for officer Published Oct. 7, 2015 By 412th Test Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- A memorial service will be held for Maj. Benjamin Meier, Friday, Oct. 9, in Hangar 1810 at 11 a.m. Meier was assigned to the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron as an F-35 pilot. The service is open to those with base access. Meier was struck by a vehicle while running on base the morning of Sept. 28. He was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California, where he succumbed to his injuries Sept. 29. The incident is under investigation. Meier was a combat veteran who flew missions in the F-16 over Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya before transitioning to the F-35 to fly operational test. He is survived by his wife, and two sons.
