Pool games like Marco Polo and football for parents started the event. Later that evening, two movies were shown -- "Finding Nemo" for the children and "Jaws" for the adults. Parents and children floated in boats and inner tubes or just swam as they watched the projection screen while floating in the pool. More than 100 people attended the movie night. "In this 113-degree heat, there is nothing better to do than to come to a pool and watch a movie with your family -- you're bound to get a hit," said Terry Stegman, Oasis Community Center director and special events coordinator. Pleased with the turn out, Ms. Stegman said she was happy to see families and friends from Edwards coming together and just having a good time with one another. "I think it's great that we have something different on base like this to offer the family," said Michele Ripple, aerobics instructor. "I think the movie night in the pool was a really unique idea, and it gives us an opportunity to have a good time with our families and friends." With the excellent turnout this year, Ms. Stegman said she plans on continuing this event next year with an even bigger turnout. "It was a very successful event and I know my children and I would love to see it again next year," Ms. Ripple said. With the cooperation of several organizations, Ms. Stegman said this was one of the easiest and most enjoyable events they have had this year. It encourages families and Airmen to come out to these events.
