Facey 412th Maintenance Squadron EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Edwards Middle School Eagles basketball team won their sixth straight game here Jan. 26 beating the Murray Mustangs 44-18. The Eagles also added their seventh and eighth wins by defeating California City 47-35 on Jan. 30 and Boron 40-22 on Feb. 1 to remain undefeated. Team leading scorer Lacarlis Moore's 13 points and Brandon Jefferson's 10 points set the pace for the Eagles against the Mustangs. Edwards held a 20-10 lead at half time then added a 20-2 run in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Also scoring for the Eagles was Ron Beldo with nine, Bret Gleason with five, and Caleb Hayes with four. Angelo Antonio, Vincent Chase, and Brendan Facey had one each. The Mustangs were led by Tanner Vasquez with eight points, followed by Jordan Lueck and Aaron Plaskett with four each and Danny Martinez with two. The Eagles' Lacarlis Moore led the way again against California City with 14 points, followed by Dannon Curries' 12, Bret Gleason's eight, and Ron Beldo with seven. California City's Jurrad Telles 12 points led his team while Ryan Hanrahan's two early three-pointers gave him six and Phil Nguyen had four. Austin Males scored five and Marcos Rodriguez added three. Traveling to Boron to play the Bobcats on Feb. 1, Ron Beldo's 10 points and Dannon Curries' eight led the team to their eighth consecutive win by a margin of 18 points. Also scoring was Angelo Antonio with four, Vincent Chase with two, and Bret Gleason with one. Richard Parker led the Bobcats with seven points while Cashe Sexton had six and Dexter Martin picked up four. Josh Core and Reggie Heard had two each and Vinnie Rodriguez added one. The Eagles will finish their season on the road with games against Joshua Middle School at Mojave on Tuesday and will travel to Ridgecrest to face Monroe on Thursday.
