On May 4, a seven-member panel of officers found a technical sergeant assigned to the 412th Maintenance Squadron guilty of sodomy of a minor under the age of 16, assault, and indecent assault on two female minors under the age of 16, during a four-day general court-martial at Edwards Air Force Base.

The members sentenced the technical sergeant to a dishonorable discharge, four years confinement, total forfeitures of all pay and allowances, a reduction to the grade of E-1, and a reprimand. In addition, based upon the nature of the offenses, the technical sergeant will also have to register as a sex offender.

Four charges and 13 specifications, including the allegations of sodomy with a minor under the age of 16, physical assault, and indecent assault, specifically, grabbing the breasts of two minor females under the age of 16, were initially referred against the technical sergeant. Of the charges and specifications of which he was found guilty, the technical sergeant faced a maximum sentence of dishonorable discharge, 38 years confinement, total forfeitures of all pay and allowances, reduction to E-1, and a reprimand.

General courts-martial are reserved for the most serious criminal offenses and any punishment not prohibited by the Uniform Code of Military Justice, including death when specifically authorized, may be adjudged.
