After about a month of seeking a new commander, the 95th Air Base Wing has finally found one in Col. Bryan Gallagher, former 95th ABW vice-commander.

To formally confer to Colonel Gallagher his new responsibility, Maj. Gen. Curtis Bedke, Air Force Flight Test Center commander, led the Assumption of Command ceremony May 29 at building 1 here.

During the ceremony, Colonel Gallagher provided a brief description of his goals for the air base wing.

"I have two visions for this Wing -- we will deliver excellence in installation support and we are going to organize, train, equip and provide combat-ready Airmen," Colonel Gallagher said. "By Airmen, I mean not only active-duty, reserve and guard, but also our civilians, contractors and our entire Air Force family who help us fight our nation's war."

To do this, Colonel Gallagher said he needs an air base wing that is fit across the Four Dimensions of Wellness - spiritual, emotional, social and physical.

"We want a wing that is trained and ready no matter what the call and circumstance are," he said. "We will also have a wing that takes care of our family, and I am not just talking about our natural and biological families, but also the bigger Air Force family."

Colonel Gallagher also provided a glimpse of what he envisions the 95th ABW during his command.

"We will achieve excellence as our own standard," he said. "We will have fearless and spotless integrity, discipline and honor; and we will take care of the service and the member far before we take care of ourselves. With this, we will not falter, and we will not fail."

During his tenure as the 95th ABW vice-commander, he transformed Camp Corum for Phase II operations for the Air Force Materiel Command Inspector General's Operational Readiness Inspection. After the ORI, he was in charge of Operation Line Balance, which is the recovery plan for problems encountered during the inspection. He also worked on base plan for housing area and energy conservation efforts for Edwards.

"Edwards Air Force Base is a community that cares and takes cares of its Airmen, Air Force civilians and its family," General Bedke said. "You have the right team to do that, and Colonel Gallagher is the right leader. I couldn't have been more pleased."

His military accomplishments include commanding three squadrons: 48th Morale, Welfare and Recreation Squadron at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom; 62nd Civil Engineer Squadron at McChord Air Force Base, Wash.; and the 405th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron in Oman.

He has two masters degrees in public administration and national resource strategy.

"Colonel Gallagher is both deserving and competent to become the wing commander," General Bedke said. "His military career has been diverse and distinguished."

Colonel Gallagher assumed command from Col. H. Brent Baker Sr., Global Logistics Center commander.
