Kiosks provide information hub for Team Edwards Published Dec. 19, 2007 By Senior Airman Julius Delos Reyes 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Five on-base kiosks featuring specially set-up computers, printers and telephones are now available to serve Team Edwards as one-stop hubs for access to information on pay and job announcements. The kiosks, located in buildings 163, 1600, 3000 and 3500 and the Oasis Community Center, are the result of a collaborative effort by the Air Force Materiel Command, the American Federal Government Employees Partnership Council and 95th Communications Group. Through these kiosks, Team Edwards members can access the Air Force Portal, myPay and their Federal Employee Health Benefits and thrift savings plan through the Benefits and Entitlements Services System, said Terry Ayres, AFGE Local 1406 president. "The kiosks are prime examples of an innovative approach to best serve the information needs of Team Edwards," said Col. John Odey, 95th CG commander. "We're proud of being a partner in a cooperative team effort to quickly bring much needed 24/7 personal information access for base customers." The implementation team was led by Jerri Dixon, 95th CG project manager, in coordination with American Federal Government Employee Local 1406, 95th CG and the Air Force Flight Test Center Directorate of Manpower and Personnel. "As we go paperless, a lot of the information can only be found through the computer," said Mark Watson, 95th CG project management branch chief. "These kiosks are critical to provide members without government-issued personal computers.with ready access to information that they need." It has been long recognized that there is a large segment of the workforce that does not have access to a computer, Mr. Ayres said. This impacts the workforce's ability to take advantage of the many valuable resources related to employment and working conditions.
