Security forces to host law enforcement job fair Published Jan. 22, 2008 By Senior Airman Julius Delos Reyes 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 95th Security Forces Squadron is scheduled to host a law enforcement job fair at building 4231 here Feb. 8, from 1 to 5:15 p.m. Participating agencies include Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff, Kern County Sheriff, Bureau of Prisons, Anaheim Police Department, Bakersfield Police Department, California Highway Patrol and California City Police Department. "The purpose of the law enforcement job fair is to provide the Edwards community and separating members from security forces with information about job opportunities within the civilian law enforcement career field," said Tech. Sgt. Gerardo Ventura, 95th SFS plans noncommissioned officer in charge. This job fair will provide an outstanding opportunity for military personnel who are planning on separating or retiring from the military to get into the civilian law enforcement, said Maj. Steve Heffington, 95th SFS commander. "Furthermore, many military members want to continue to serve their nation and community after military service," he said. Moving from the military to civilian law enforcement is a natural and logical transition that is good for the individual, the community and the nation, he said.
