The 95th Security Forces Squadron hosted local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies to participate in Edwards' law enforcement job fair here Feb. 8.

Security professionals from Lockheed Martin, Office of Special Investigation, Kern County Sheriff, Los Angeles County Sheriff, Los Angeles Police Department, Anaheim Police Department, Glendale Police Department and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons answered potential candidates' questions covering entry requirements, salary, benefits and job duties.

"We're currently at 35 percent retention of our first-term Airmen," said Maj. Steven Heffington, 95th Security Forces Squadron Commander. "The goal is to keep separating Airmen in the law enforcement community, where they can continue to serve and continue to be involved in protecting our nation."

Many daily activities of civilian agencies run parallel with their military counterparts, thus creating an easier transition back into the civilian sector, he said. Military members choosing to work for local agencies also become familiar resources to 95th SFS Airmen, which strengthens relationships between Edwards and the surrounding community.

"We have (individual mobilization augmentees) on the Los Angeles Police Department and the Beverly Hills SWAT teams, that offer incredible insight into how we can better train our security forces troops to become more effective warfighters," Major Heffington said.

The LAPD followed up the job fair by conducting entrance examinations at the 95th SFS headquarters building here Feb. 12.
