An Edwards civilian employee recently received an award for her outstanding work as a civilian services manager.

Terry Stegman, 95th Mission Support and Services Squadron Oasis Community Center director, received the 2007 Air Force Materiel Command Services Civilian Manager of the Year award.

As the Oasis director, Ms. Stegman coordinates all the base events, as well as managing the Information, Ticket and Travel Agency.

"I'm completely honored to win this award," Ms. Stegman said. "But I am only as good as the  staff around me -- they are very hard working (people) and this wouldn't be possible without their support."

Ms. Stegman coordinated the tree lighting ceremony here for the Holidays, and provided 28,000 pounds of snow for the Edwards children to play in as well as having two live reindeer pull Santa's sled.

"My goal is to have every event I plan exceed the base's expectations," Ms. Stegman said. "Having the live reindeer and snow was really great for the kids, and the Airmen who were there also enjoyed themselves."

She also orchestrated funding for Airman development programs, including Club 1830, a club for servicemembers 18 through 30 years old. This, and other various events, increased the Oasis Community Center patronage by 10 percent.

Ms. Stegman said she gets satisfaction from her job seeing Airmen enjoy the events she coordinates.

"Terry works hard to make every event outstanding," said Lesley Smith, 95th MSSS community services flight supervisor. "She does her best to create a wide variety of events that appeal to all servicemembers and improved quality of life for all participants."

"The entire staff is exited that Ms. Stegman will be recognised for her dedication to building morale at Edwards and making every event outstanding," Ms. Smith said. "Her commitment is unparalleled."
