The Airman and Family Readiness Center is scheduled to host a volunteer fair at building 7020 here April 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participating agencies include the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Red Cross, Officers' Spouses' Club, Enlisted Spouse's Club, Library, Environmental Management and Adopt-A-Pet.

"The purpose of the volunteer fair is to allow Team Edwards the opportunity to volunteer at several organizations on base," said Nora Moran, AFRC Community readiness consultant. "We want to spread the word out that there are several volunteer opportunities for people to volunteer at."

The volunteer fair is open to military, civilians, retirees and their dependents as well as anyone who has normal access to the base.

The organizations on base will allow the volunteers to network within the organization to help them learn their volunteer jobs, said Jennifer Higgins, AFRC team lead.

"Whatever volunteer opportunities people are looking for, Edwards has a spot for them," Ms Higgins said. "There are several organizations that could use the extra help in their offices."

Ms. Moran said the volunteer fair is going to have a job-fair like atmosphere. Each organization is going to have its own booth, where they will have a listing of the areas where volunteers are needed. They will also have job descriptions and work hours available so volunteers can see if the job is right for them.

Since Edwards is in an isolated location, Ms. Higgins said the volunteer fair is a way for people to find some fun opportunities available at Edwards. It can give military or their dependents something to do if they have spare time.

"I recommend that people come out and see what the base has to offer," Ms. Higgins said. "I know that there is a volunteer opportunity for everyone."
